IMMUNITY CHALLENGE #10: Creative Flare
This weeks challenge is hopefully going to be a good one for you guys. There will be no speed needed, and it will be putting to use your greatest talent: your creativity. This challenge you will be creating for Pichu and I some sort of fan-made creation, inspired by the Pokemon that you are playing as. Your own personal style will have to be present in this work, so make it outstanding and incredible. Since I know some of you are not likely artists or poets, I gave you guys a good selection of choices to pick from. Here is how this challenge will work.
Instructions:
You will be selecting one of the follow categories to do your project on. The only rule that is active in all of the selections is that your choice of work must be about the Pokemon you chose at the start of the game.
You can choose from-
Fan Fiction/Short Story - You can choose to write us a short story based on your Pokemon. You can write it in any style you want and it can be any genre you want (although the closer to a real story may award you more points then a script). It's recommended you make it at least 100-200 words for effort, but the longer the better.
Hand Drawing/Sketch - You can choose to draw us a picture inspired by your Pokemon. It should be an original work, although if you happen to copy another picture it will be accepted. It doesn't need to be colored, but it must be of the Pokemon you chose at the beginning of the game. If you draw something, you must have some sort of scanner to get the picture into your computer, be aware of that.
Digital Image - Similar to the Sketch, you will create a digital image of the Pokemon you chose at the beginning of the game. You can do this via Photoshop, or MS Paint, it doesn't matter how. Being original will score you more points then just editing a previously created picture of your Pokemon.
Poem - You can choose to write us a poem about the Pokemon you chose at the start of the game. It can be any kind of poem, a haiku or traditional poem, but since a poem can be pretty easy, the longer the better. The more vivid and profound, the higher your score will be.
Other - Other is a broad category that fits just about anything you don't see here. That is, if you want to make a comic, a model, a song, an AMV, or just about anything else for your Pokemon, you can. If you are planning on doing something in the other category, let me know so I can tell you the best way to send it. Other then that, the same rules apply depending on what you choose to do, the more original the better. However, if you choose to do something very abstract (like make a song for your Pokemon) you should also explain how you feel it represents your Pokemon.
Your work will be graded on the following scale.
Effort (25 Points) - The more effort put into your creation, the higher this score will be. It doesn't need to be a perfect piece of work, but if you have incomplete sentences, or choppy stick figures, your effort score will go down.
Originality (10 Points) - We'll be looking to see just how original your work is and how creative you got with it. If you go for an epic story of your Pokemon battling their way through the Orange Island, you'd get a higher score then someone who just traced an image of their Pokemon from online.
Quality (5 Points) - The quality of your work will be graded on this scale. It doesn't need to be perfectly awesome, espcially if you're doing a drawing or such, but we'll be looking to see if you did you best to make a decent attempt at the challenge, rather then throw things together at the last minute. Your artistic skill does not merit quality. A person will likely receive a lower grade in quality even if they have an incredible drawing if they have unfinished parts of the photo, or it looks sloppily put together. TyPiNg LyK DiS will also effect your quality grade.
Guidelines (5 Points) - As long as you follow the rules stated for each category, you will receive a 5 in this category.
Both Pichu and I will be grading your works on our own. At the end of the challenge, we will compare our grades and average them together for your final grade. Once the final grade is determined, we will add the final category to your grade:
Curve (5 Points) - Since obviously a painting will take more time then a poem, a curve will be put into place to help even out the score. We'll look to see which entry did the best job, put forth the most effort and went above and beyond for this challenge. From there, will use a curved grading scale, adding points in this category based on how well you did in comparison to the person who the best (difficultly speaking). This will be the only category that is graded like this, to help even out the score, as 5 isn't a huge point difference, but could in the end make the difference.
The Pokemon who scores the highest will be given immunity for this episode. If there is a tie, it will be settled with a tie-breaker challenge.
Badge: This challenges badge will be the Cascade Badge! I have randomly selected a number between one and ten (via random.org). At the end of the challenge, Pichu will put in order from most to least, her favorite entries in this challenge. The entry that lands in the number selected will win the cascade badge. If all ten of you do no partake in the challenge, and the number lands on a one that is not in the game (ex: if only 8 send in answers, and the number is 9), no one will win the cascade badge. Pichu does NOT know what number that will be awarded the badge. (in fact, I didn't even tell Pichu that this was going to be the requirement for this challenge until right now).
Since this is a creative challenge, you guys will have a while to complete it. You must submit your answers by SATURDAY, FEB. 6th at 8PM EST. This gives you guys more then enough time to work on your project.
If you have any questions, feel free to PM me or send me an e-mail.
All submissions are to be sent to pokemonsurvivor@yahoo.com or over the PM function on the forums.
